This video, PART 1, forms a compilation of segments of our Inspirational/Gospel show. As you view it, and especially at the end, you will see why this next Sunday (March 1, 2015) MUST be our last and final EVER shows in Florida. Hardly anyone comes any more, because we can't afford to pay 20 times or more as much for advertising as what we get back in ticket sales (to let people KNOW about the shows). We used to do it when we would only get 15% to 20% of our advertising dollars back in ticket sales, but now the newspaper ads are much higher, yet most seniors have quit reading the newspapers. How many stores would stay in business selling merchandise for 5% of the amount they paid for the merchandise? We used to fill many auditoriums, and have had multitudes of shows with at least 700 to 1000 or more people attending, and sometimes even attendance over 2000. But, those days are no more. We have no way to get the word out... most seniors don't spend much time on the internet.... and so we MUST cease doing shows... we have no choice!!! We hope our fans will understand!

Jarvis (1967), "Take Your Shoes Off Moses" was made popular by the Stanley Brothers and Ricky Skaggs, but it was the version of Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys with Keith Whitley singing lead, that first caught Courtney's attention. Her arrangement pays tribute to the song’s bluegrass roots, the sound of which saw a resurgence during the 1960’s. Courtney's expansive voice, laced with deep Texas twang, gives new life to old themes of finding love and freedom where you can and trying to hold yourself together when it slips away.

The roots of Southern Gospel reach back to a time when singing together was a way of life. People would come from miles around to join in song, and be a part of something that was bigger than each individual could ever be on their own. It was a real community of both Faith and music.

As an homage to that community we wanted to create a modern take on traditional Southern Gospel heritage. We asked musicians from a variety of genres, styles and bands to come together for a Revival of Southern Gospel Music.

Robert Beckford is an activist scholar working at the intersections of faith and racial justice. In response to Ufuoma Essi’s exhibition at Gasworks, "Is My Living In Vain", Beckford delivered an audio-visual presentation of gospel music re-imagined as a socially engaged black radical discourse. Working with new music videos and visual texts, Beckford articulated how collaborations with artists, musicians and producers resulted in the creation of a new sub-genre of gospel music underwritten by black/womanist theologies of liberation.
