Mandolin U. Shrinivas is the master musician for the genre of Carnatic Classical Music. U. Shrinivas Known for having adapted a difficult electric western instrument to the Carnatic stage with awe-inspiring success, Shrinivas impressed pundits and lay listeners alike. Mandolin U. Shrinivas was the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Akademi award.
Mandolin U. Shrinivas was born 28 February 1969, in Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh. During the age of five, he picked up the mandolin of his father U. Satyanarayana. After he heard it being played at a concert he attended with his father. Later U. Shrinivas had studied Carnatic Classical Music.
Mandolin U Srinivas, who died at a hospital in Chennai and he was suffering from liver failure, was a quiet rebel, said by his contemporaries. Mandolin U. Shrinivas was always courteous, soft-spoken, unassuming. But whenever he wanted to prove a point, he used to play his mandolin.
