China has introduced sweeping travel restrictions on its citizens, including exit bans for those deemed to have endangered the country's "industrial security." The new rules, which came into force this week, allow authorities to stop people from leaving over violations involving sensitive technologies and exports. The move comes amid an intensifying technology rivalry with the US, with both sides accusing each other of stealing AI models. Beijing says the restrictions safeguard national security and development.
