DC shooting update: Investigated as 'possible terrorism', suspect is Afghan national

We are getting more information tonight as two West Virginia National Guard members were shot near the White House on Wednesday. Emergency vehicles, the Joint D.C. Task Force and the Washington Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the incident. The FBI is also assisting in the investigation. LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall is speaking with National Security Analyst, Hal Kempfer as we learn more about the possible suspect from this incident.

According to Fox News Congressional correspondent, Bill Melugin, who posted on social media tonight, “Per multiple federal law enforcement sources, the suspect in custody for the shooting of two National Guard soldiers in DC is an Afghan national who entered the U.S. on 9/8/2021 as part of the Biden admin’s Operation Allies Welcome in the aftermath of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.”
