Game Changers: Technology to outsmart feral cats
Research shows feral cats kill more than 1.5 billion native mammals, birds, reptiles and frogs every year, and have been implicated in the extinction of roughly 30 Australian mammals.
But help, and hope, is at hand. As part of the Threatened Species Action Plan 2022-2032, a $1.7 million Australian Government ‘Game Changers’ grant was awarded to Bush Heritage Australia, First Nations ethical trapping business Timberscope and AI technology provider eVorta, with the aim of bringing to market new cat-catching technology.
This is the story of that partnership, and we’re only just getting started.
