Iran US War | Iran Threatens US Companies Over Sanctions | 10 AM News Headlines | 23 Aug 2026

Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States over possible sanctions and US actions related to the Strait of Hormuz, threatening severe retaliation if Washington takes further steps against Tehran.

Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei said that if new economic sanctions are imposed, US companies operating in the region could be targeted. He also warned that Iran would respond to any US action along the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz.

Rezaei further stated that countries participating in economic sanctions against Iran would be considered hostile. Despite what Iran describes as a naval blockade, he claimed that Tehran has continued selling its oil and has exported around 70 million barrels of oil over the past one to two months.

According to the Iranian claim, the country is selling oil at a rate equivalent to its daily production, suggesting that US pressure and the reported naval blockade have failed to completely stop Iran’s oil exports.

Rezaei also warned that if former US President Donald Trump takes further military or economic action against Iran, Tehran’s response would be “extremely severe.”

The latest statements come amid rising tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy route. Any further escalation between Iran and the United States could have significant consequences for regional security, global oil markets and international trade.
