"Forever, for Always, for Love" is a song written and arranged by Luther Vandross and is the second studio album by American R&B singer and songwriter Luther Vandross, released on September 21, 1982 by Epic. It became Vandross' second album to chart in the top 20 on the Billboard 200 and was his second album to top the R&B Albums chart where it spent three weeks.

The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA, and earned Vandross his third nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male, but lost to Marvin Gaye for his song "Sexual Healing".

The hit "Since I Lost My Baby" was originally recorded by The Temptations in 1965, while the "Having a Party" part of the opening track was originally recorded by Sam Cooke in 1962. The album's opening track was heard during the opening credits of the 1990 film House Party. Rolling Stone gave the album a four-star rating, describing Vandross as "the most gifted male pop-soul singer of his generation".

In 2004, singer Lalah Hathaway covered the song "Forever, for Always, for Love" for the compilation album Forever, for Always, for Luther. She later included the song on her third album Outrun the Sky. In the same year Philadelphia rap-duo Young Gunz sampled "Better Love" on their top 40 hit "No Better Love" ft. Rell.

Luther Ronzoni Vandross Jr. (April 20, 1951 – July 1, 2005) was an American singer, songwriter and record producer. Throughout his career, Vandross was an in-demand background vocalist for several different artists including Todd Rundgren, Judy Collins, Chaka Khan, Bette Midler, Diana Ross, David Bowie, Barbra Streisand, Ben E. King, and Donna Summer. He later became a lead singer of the group Change, which released its gold-certified debut album, The Glow of Love, in 1980 on Warner/RFC Records. After Vandross left the group, he was signed to Epic Records as a solo artist and released his debut solo album, Never Too Much, in 1981.

His hit songs include "Never Too Much", "Here and Now", "Any Love", "Power of Love/Love Power", "I Can Make It Better" and "For You to Love". Many of his songs were covers of original music by other artists such as "If This World Were Mine" (duet with Cheryl Lynn), "Since I Lost My Baby", "Superstar" and "Always and Forever". Duets such as "The Closer I Get to You" with Beyoncé, "Endless Love" with Mariah Carey and "The Best Things in Life Are Free" with Janet Jackson were all hit songs in his career.

During his career, Vandross sold over 35 million records worldwide, and received eight Grammy Awards including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance four different times. He won a total of four Grammy Awards in 2004 including the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for a song recorded not long before his death, "Dance with My Father".

I sing this song to remind myself that
There was a time when I didn't have no one, didn't have no love
Do you remember the love that we once had
Well if I had the chance to love you again
I would make your heart forget I was ever there
If we forget the past
I know this time love will last forever, for always, for love

I'm not coming home anymore, doesn't matter
Well if I had the chance to hold you again
I'd fill your heart with joy and make you remember
I'm the only one for you, yes I would
Let's throw the bad memories out and make this the first day
Forever, for always, for love

I'd be a fool to ever change
If she says she loves me the way I am
I'd be a fool to ever change
If she says she loves the, loves the way I am
It's gonna be starting here, starting now, yeah yeah yeah
Forever, for always
Do it for the ones you love, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Forever, for always, keep it right there, keep it right there
Yeah, for always, for love, yeah yeah yeah
Forever, always, for love, hey hey hey
Forever, for always, yeah yeah yeah
For always, for love, hey hey hey
For love, forever, for always, for love
Forever, for always, for love, hey
