Michael Bolton - (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay out now!

"Dock of the Bay" is a song that I loved as a kid hearing Otis Redding's version and as a teenager, I performed it with my bands. When I finally started recording in New York City, I would hang out at this place called JP's uptown on the east side where all the greatest players would gather. One night someone invited me up to sing and suddenly I was on stage singing "Dock of the Bay" with this amazing all star band. People went nuts. So I produced it on my first solo album The Hunger and it became the second single for The Hunger. It got played on Pop, R&B, Adult Contemporary, and Rock stations. And Otis Redding's widow, Zelma, gave a rave review, saying it was her favorite version since her husband's and that she was certain he would agree. When that statement came out, all the walls came down and established me as an artist.

It's an incredible experience having 60 plus symphony orchestra musicians playing these beautiful arrangements of some of my favorite songs. It brings so much more dimension to songs I've recorded, some I've written, a lot of them hits of mine but that I've been performing all around the world for about 35 years. Now I get to experience the width and breadth of the emotional content of the songs, transformed through this amazing group of arrangements that is this symphonic orchestra album. It’s truly a dream come true for me.

The album, A Symphony of Hits, which includes (Sittin' On) The Dock of Bay, debuted number #1 on the Billboard Classical Album Chart in 2019.
