Andy Goldmarck and I co-wrote were messing around with chords and ideas in New York in Andy's apartment. And he said, you know I have this idea, I call it "Soul Provider". As we started working on the lyrics I was loving the fact that it's soul, S.O.U.L. provider and it's only about good intentions, the deepest good intentions.

It's an incredible experience having 60 plus symphony orchestra musicians playing these beautiful arrangements of some of my favorite songs. It brings so much more dimension to songs I've recorded, some I've written, a lot of them hits of mine but that I've been performing all around the world for about 35 years. Now I get to experience the width and breadth of the emotional content of the songs, transformed through this amazing group of arrangements that is this symphonic orchestra album. It’s truly a dream come true for me.

The album, A Symphony of Hits, which includes Soul Provider, debuted number #1 on the Billboard Classical Album Chart in 2019.
