Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny has become the first Latin artist to perform solo at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, delivering the first fully Spanish-language performance the major event has ever seen.

The Super Bowl is America's most-viewed television broadcast. A record 127.7 million Americans tuned in to watch the 2025 game, eclipsing the estimated 123 million viewership a year earlier.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, used a recent Grammy acceptance speech to criticise the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency amid sweeping raids and heightened tensions across the country.
