This is my third Stones video, the last one was "Paint It, Black" well over four years ago. This is also my first effort at bringing to life the music and lyrics of what I consider to be the BEST Rolling Stones album of all time, Sticky Fingers (1971). As the band's greatest achievement it is all the more amazing considering the loss of guiding genius Brian Jones two years earlier. This song commands attention the moment the lead guitar makes its initial appearance, dark and eerie. It is one of the most troubling songs about drug use ever written, and about one of the deadliest drugs of all. Its use in hospitals as a painkiller for the terminally ill goes back to the 19th century, and often times ended up being the actual cause of death rather than the illness. Recreational use is recommended only to those who enjoy a good game of Russian Roulette. This song is a work of sheer genius and rarely, and unfortunately, is never one of the songs discussed in reviews of the album. A Mick Jagger/Keith Richards collaboration co-written by Marianne Faithfull.
