So this video tells the story of how I came to purchase a super duper, minty fresh 1985 ATC 200X, a pretty decent 1986 TR200 FatCat, and a really respectable 1975 ATC90. What started out as an Instagram DM from a stranger tuned into a deal I couldn't pass up. You never know what your inbox will bring! All of these machines were pretty much a solid 8 hours away, so it was going to be very tricky for me to go get them myself... So, my buddy Mike was asked if he was up for the job and he was! Once we figured out the when's and how's, we set our plan in motion and, the next thing you know, the Uhaul trailer was backing into my driveway!
So, spoiler alert, is this mint? No... it has some flaws. Is it the cleanest survivor of all time? I doubt it. The longer I collect, the longer I realize that these gems are out there and continue to pop up. The more time that goes on, the more we will see. Just when you think you've got the best... you'll see one nicer pop up on the internet.
Couple cool things about the 200X that aren't stock but are neat are the hand grips. Somebody swapped out the original grips with a pair of Oakley BMX style grips... And the other thing is the pipe. It has a full Bassani on it. A.K.A. "Rare Bassani".
The FatCat has a ton of potential and a few neat Hondaline accessories. It needs some elbow grease and some powder coating... but it will look good as new after that. The ATC 90 is a fantastic survivor as well with the original Ohtsu SP Wamulass tires on it.
I'm very happy to be the new owner of these machines and I'm thankful for the opportunity to be their care taker for the foreseeable future.
Thank you Jim for the DM. Thank you Mike for the pick up. Thank you Alyson for dealing with me.
