Situated in the Washington, DC district with the highest levels of poverty, teen pregnancy and school drop-outs in the area, Ballou has historically been know for its crime rather than academic success. This documentary follows the Ballou Senior High School Marching Band, as they overcome their negative environment filled with guns, drugs, and violence. Instead they dedicated their lives to music in the hope that this will help bring together their community.
