I Turned an iPhone 7 Plus Into a Gaming Beast!
Can an old iPhone 7 Plus become a serious gaming machine in 2026?Instead of replacing it, I decided to upgrade old iphone hardware and push this phone way beyond what Apple originally designed it for.
The biggest problems were obvious: battery life and heat. So my upgrade old iphone project started with a massive battery upgrade, increasing the total capacity from 2,900 mAh to 10,900 mAh.
But more battery doesn’t solve everything. The A10 Fusion can still get seriously hot during gaming, leading to thermal throttling and lower performance. So the next part of this upgrade old iphone experiment was improving the cooling.
I added a custom cooling setup to keep temperatures under control and help the phone maintain its performance during longer gaming sessions.
After finishing the upgrade old iphone modifications, it was finally time for the fun part: gaming!
I tested modern games including Honkai: Star Rail and Roblox to see how much performance this old hardware still has left. The results from this upgrade old iphone project genuinely surprised me.
