Iran Releases Footage Of Alleged Downed US Reaper Drone Over Strait Of Hormuz

Iran released dramatic footage showing what it claims is the wreckage of a U.S. combat reconnaissance drone shot down over the Strait of Hormuz. The video, released by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, showed people gathered around debris believed to belong to a General Atomics MQ-9A ER Reaper drone, also known as Predator B.

Experts analyzing the footage said the wreckage appeared consistent with the external fuel pod of a U.S.-operated MQ-9 Reaper. The incident comes amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region and continued clashes surrounding control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump predicted that the conflict could end soon, even as Tehran reviewed a new American peace proposal. However, major disagreements remain unresolved, particularly over Iran’s nuclear programme and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for global shipping.
