Iran has plunged into an internet blackout as nationwide protests demanding the ouster of the Islamic government spread to multiple cities and grew in size. These demonstrations are the biggest in Iran since 2022, when the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody set off fierce anti-government protests. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called the protesters’ grievances “valid” but accused external forces, namely Israel and US, of trying to exploit the protesters to destabilize the country. But will this protest be different? The Ayatollah regime has been put on notice.
