Back when I started performing as a piano player singer songwriter, in the early 70s, Elton was one of the biggest influences on all of us, progressive rock, Gospel, boogie, funk, and great pop melodies. From 1987 to 2003, I served as pianist, saxophone and bandleader with Long John Baldry, Father of the British Blues scene, and the man who discovered Elton and helped to launch his amazing career. Baldry helped me get signed to my first record deal in Europe, and exposed me to thousands of music fans worldwide.
I have 10 solo CDs released since 1995, with influences from so many great artists, and occasionally I still find myself being influenced by Elton John.
I had a few days booked in a Vancouver studio, doing a solo CD.
We just happened to have cameras there and captured these few songs in an impromptu concert for some close friends.
