An aspiring author, Rob Hanisey, moves into Highberger House, a boarding house common for helping struggling writers publish their first book. While working on his debut novel, a horror thriller, a young woman mysteriously appears in Rob's life and pleads with him to save her from a unseen force. But Rob's housemates, including the elderly and eccentric writer Everett, seem to know more than what they are letting on about who, or what, Valerie really is.
