Depuis la fin des années 1990, l’artiste Phil Collins élabore un important corpus d’œuvres faisant appel à diverses pratiques sociales, communautés et régions du monde afin d’étudier la manière dont nous comprenons la culture populaire et y prenons part. Le public montréalais a découvert le travail de Collins en 2017 avec son installation free fotolab, présentée dans le cadre de l’exposition collective L’OFFRE. Cette fois-ci, la Fondation consacre ses espaces situés au 465, rue Saint-Jean à une exposition individuelle de l’artiste axée sur le rôle déterminant de la musique dans sa pratique.

Since the late 1990s, artist Phil Collins has developed a rich body of work across a range of social practices, communities, and geographies to explore how we participate in and understand popular culture. The Montreal public was first introduced to Collins’s work in 2017 with the presentation of his installation free fotolab as part of the Foundation’s group exhibition L’OFFRE. This time, the Phi Foundation presents a solo exhibition that focuses on the paramount role of music in Collins’s artistic practice.
