"Fat Old Sun" is the third track on side two of Pink Floyd's masterpiece LP, "Atom Heart Mother," which was released in October 1970. Side two of Atom Heart Mother, like the second disk of its double album predecessor Ummagumma, featured songs exclusively written by each one of the group's members: "If" by Roger Waters, "Summer '68" by Richard Wright, "Fat Old Sun" by David Gilmour, and "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" credited to the entire band, but with sound effects largely created by percussionist Nick Mason. "Fat Old Sun" is among my favorite Pink Floyd songs written by guitarist David Gilmour during the group's early period 1967-1973. Dreamy, beautiful, nocturnal, and at times surreal, one can easily drift away in the serenity of the song and the majesty of Gilmour's lead guitar solo which closes the work. This video seeks to blend the surreal world where night and day coexist with live sequences of Gilmour and the other band members.
