India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar made some sharp remarks on India-US relations. Speaking at the 62nd Munich Security Conference, Jaishankar called the United States at 'Lonelier Power' owing to Donald Trump's Foreign Policy. Jaishankar also hailed India's ties with Russia and China's growing role in the modern world. Along with Jaishankar, India's Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman also said that the India-US trade deal was not progressing any further. Sitharaman said that both sides had 'reached a tableu' where both sides would find it difficult to navigate going further. This comes just days after US Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer said a trade deal with India 'was not imminent.' Since taking office, Trump has hit India with some of the highest tariffs in the world and has grown closer to terror-sponsoring Pakistan, directly impacting ties with India. Hem Kaur Saroya explains on Vantage on Firstpost.
