The song remains one of my favorite Doors hits of all time.
At the tail end of 1968, The Doors released a single that would introduce a new sound for the band ... a song with driving force that had both a classic 50's/early 60's rock n' roll love melody and a heavy psychedelic rock beat and rhythm. It was one of the few hard rock songs of the late 60's to spotlight the saxophone as a solo instrument. Released as a single in December 1968, it peaked at #3 on Billboard and #1 on Cash Box on February 8, 1969. It later appeared in the band's July 1969 album The Soft Parade.
