Doing a "best of" list of Zeppelin's songs wouldn't be too difficult for me ... just list the best song on each album. Hands down, this track is the meanest, heaviest, blues rock song on the entire debut album. "You Shook Me" in fact WAS the first song I ever heard by Led Zeppelin back in February 1969, and I note that the album was released only one month previous. For that honor I can thank CHUM FM out of Toronto for my very first Led Zeppelin experience (and one of my first reel-to-reel recordings off of FM radio).

For me one of the heaviest film scenes that is on par visually with this kick-ass audio recording is the Pink Room segment of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me by director David Lynch. If one looks at the scene as a series of events in the same protracted setting, one can edit the scene in many different ways, removing some of the material and focusing on other aspects. All depending on what music you use. For this the opening sequence is very important: it is the chugalugging gateway from normality into a full tailspin erotic blackout you probably wouldn't remember the next day. Interwoven into the scenes I edited is a more private performance from an altogether different "Pink Room" ... straight from the dancer's bed. Actions in both settings done in time to the music of course, including the frenzied conclusion of the song.
