A video of the testing stages of the exhibition that John Nussey and myself created work for.

We designed a series of sound reactive sculptures that recorded a history of sound within the space.

A 60 second clock face was divided into a grid of fifteen forms that each have four seconds to react.

The forms passively respond to passers–by, while also allowing people to actively redefine the shape of the current sculpture and to save previous definitions as they would when using a wiki.

The aim was to achieve a balance between an information graphic and an organic form. The user was able to influence rather than control the shape of the sculpture.

Factors such as colour and initialisation of movement
are affected by the pitch and volume of sound, while the overall size of the forms respond to the length of sound being made. However, the direction of movement is independent of user input.

The different colours of the forms can not be seen very well in the footage. I will present the raw file on my website very soon, along with the code for anyone who is interested.
