An Iranian long-range surveillance drone flew over the Arabian Sea to the east of Oman, after orbiting near the Strait of Hormuz, OSINT* analysts reported on Jan. 28, as US president Donald Trump announced the arrival of USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and her Carrier Strike Group in the Middle East. Meanwhile, a US Navy MQ-4C Triton UAS was reportedly spotted flying on the north side of the strait controlled by Iran and was later replaced by the US Navy’s P-8A Poseidon. These reports come as a leading military drone expert said that US military assets headed to the Middle East could face a serious threat from swarms of drones built under the regime of supreme leader Ali Khamenei. However, another report says that the USS Lincoln uses electronic warfare, jamming, and signal spoofing that can blind Iranian surveillance.
