Born as Marshall Bruce Mathers he developed his love for rap-music when his half-brother gifted him a soundtrack with the song 'Reckless' by Ice-T on it. Marshall adoptes his name M&M (later changed to Eminem) first when he was 14 and began rapping with his high-school friend. In 1996 his debut album flopped and was mostly ignored by DJs. He got more angry and developed his more sadistic and violent alter ego 'Slim Shady'. His record found its way to Dr. Dre who was immediately excited and started working with him. In 1999 he released his album 'The Slim Shady LP' which got certified triple platinum. His next album 'The Marshall Mathers LP' was even more successful breaking several records for fastest selling hip-hop and solo album. The album was certified diamond (12x platinum) in March 2011. Today he has 9 studio albums out and sold over 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the best selling artists of all time.
