I recorded this track as a play-along practice piece, purely for critique by my fellow members on http://www.scottsbasslessons.com It is not intended for publication, or wider circulation. It is not for profit.

I chose to play along with James Taylor’s recording of “My Blue Heaven”, which was recently released on his (2020) Album, “American Standard”.

I particularly like the Django Reinhardt style Acoustic Guitar and Stephane Grapelli style Fiddle on this recording. James Taylor’s voice is, as always, great listening.

This catchy was composed by Walter Donaldson (music) and George A. Whiting (lyrics), back in 1927 and was used in the Zeigfield Follies that same year.

I played along with a Bass line of my own creation.

I chose to play along on my (2019) Fender Elite Precision (PJ) 4 string fretted Bass. I have fitted it with Thomastik-Infeld #JF344 flat wound Nickel covered strings.

I played this song in ‘Active’ mode via its onboard 18v preamp,. I set the onboard 3 band Tone Controls at 50%. The Pan between the Neck and Bridge Pickups was also set half way to balance them equally.

I routed it via my Bergantino B|AMP, which I used as an inline preamp, I set the Bass, Mid and Treble controls on my Amp flat.

This was, yet again, a one shot take. I am pleased with the tone and quality of the sound. That was what I wanted to achieve. The only sound effect is driven by my fingers.

I sent the signal from my Bergantino B|AMP direct through an XLR cable, to my Focusrite Claret 4 Pre USB Audio Interface, which is connected to my Intel i7 powered, Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64 bit PC. The Audio track was recorded direct on Ableton Live 10 Lite recording software.

The Video was contemporaneously captured, via my Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera, initially to an internal memory card, from which I subsequently downloaded it to my PC.

From there, it was It was imported direct to Corel Pinnacle Studio Video Software, version 21.5. The Audio track was subsequently added and synchronised with the video footage.

Although this camera can record HD video files up to 4k resolution, the files become far too large and unwieldy for general upload use, so I uploaded the completed composite video as a SD MPEG-4 format file, to save delay when replayed over the Internet.

Enjoy ;o)
