Much uncertainty lies ahead for Canada and the United States after Friday’s trade talks collapsed. The threatened 50 per cent tariffs are now in place and Canada is preparing its own dollar-for-dollar counter-tariffs after Prime Minister Mark Carney slammed Trump’s negotiators for offering too little and asking too much. Now, the U.S. president is airing his grievances. Eric Sorensen reports.The punishing tariffs are a headache for Canadian businesses and industries. That’s on top of the counter-tariffs set to add more costs for Canadians. Still, many Canadians appear united in opposition to Trump’s trade war and support Carney’s handling of the situation. A horrific crash in the United Kingdom has claimed the lives of seven people. Five men were driving the wrong direction on a highway Saturday and crashed head-on with a police car carrying two officers. All occupants of both vehicles were killed. It happened just a week after a similar deadly incident in Ireland. As Redmond Shannon reports, questions are being raised about the role of social media in the tragedies.
