US drone sightings actually "manned aircraft" operating lawfully: White House

After a spate of sightings of what the FBI has said are large drones over the north eastern portion of the United States, White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said that many of the reported sightings “are actually manned aircraft that are being operated lawfully.”

Kirby also stated Thursday that there was “no indication that this is some foreign-maligned activity, or in fact, criminal.”

The national security spokesperson pushed back against Rep. Jeff Van Drew’s assertion that the unidentified drones were from an Iranian “mothership,” saying the United States Coast Guard has “confirmed there is no evidence of any foreign-based involvement from coastal vessels.”
